10/04/2026

The story of the “Orange Treasure Hunt” in Cavriana: a day filled with culture, fun, and discovery in the heart of the morainic hills. Amid historical sights and surprise stops, families, friends, and curious travelers actively explored the village, joining the massive, widespread celebration that involved over a hundred towns throughout Italy.
A journey to relive the event’s highlights, the participants’ enthusiasm, and the authentic charm of the region.

Isabella Andrighetti - Head of Certifications and Regional Programs - Touring Club Italiano
The Orange Flag is the designation awarded by the Italian Touring Club to outstanding small towns in Italy’s countryside. It is awarded to those villages that demonstrate a special welcome to visitors and that also know how to highlight and promote their cultural, scenic, and environmental heritage, while also showing particular attention to environmental quality and concern for the well-being of the host communities. The “Hunt for Orange Treasures,” now in its seventh edition, is a very important event for us at the Touring Club because it’s an opportunity to shine a spotlight on over 100 villages certified with the Orange Flag throughout Italy, so it’s a time for celebration, but above all, it’s an invitation to discover these small towns at a time when summer vacations may be over, yet the weather is still fantastic—and people are still eager to get out and about and enjoy their weekends. And what better place to do so than the Orange Flag villages in the Italian countryside?
Claudio Turati - Deputy Mayor - Municipality of Cavriana
Here we are—another opportunity this treasure hunt offers is for the participants themselves, in a fast-paced world where everything happens online or on our cell phones and we’re all connected, it gives us the chance to slow down just a little, to calmly experience the natural beauty of the country and the participating towns, and to get to know other participants from the various groups—and so we try to slow down just a little and make life a bit more livable.
Laura Bassanetti - Council Member - Municipality of Cavriana
Earning the Orange Flag for the Municipality of Cavriana is a great achievement; being included in the Touring Club’s national network means taking Cavriana beyond its municipal and provincial borders.
That said, we have decided to join the “Hunt for Orange Treasures,” an initiative that has seen the entire Cavriana community participate—from associations to schools, public administrations, local authorities, wineries, and local producers. This means, first and foremost, that the people of Cavriana believe in this achievement, and I am truly pleased as the councilor responsible for tourism.
Obviously, this is the first step toward elevating Cavriana to new heights and showcasing its beauty.
Initiatives of this kind have a significant impact on local tourism and on the village’s lodging and dining establishments, first and foremost because this event allows us to be part of a national-level initiative—in fact, all Orange Flag villages can participate in this initiative— so for local producers and, indeed, everyone working in tourism and heritage promotion, it’s a tremendous opportunity for visibility—and at the same time, a chance to raise awareness of the village itself.
